In February of 2023, Michele Hein, chair of the Fentanyl Free Communities Foundation, united activists at the Minnesota State Capitol for the “Minnesota Faces of Fentanyl” display & rally to remember those lost to fentanyl poisonings and demand action. The event featured Legislators, law enforcement officers and family members sharing their stories of loss and addiction alongside photos of the victims. Advocates called on lawmakers to pass vital legislation addressing the fentanyl crisis, including increased access to naloxone and stricter penalties for trafficking. The continued loss of life due to fentanyl emphasizes the urgent need for change in the face of this devastating epidemic.
It takes bipartisan leadership to stop the flow of fentanyl into our communities. Our chairwoman, Michele Hein, supports Angie Craig, D-MN 2nd District, who is continually asking for a crack down on cartels trafficking fentanyl into the U.S. Angie knows that fentanyl is the biggest drug threat we have ever seen and she doesn’t want other families to bury their loved ones because they were deceived to death.
